   Economy of India....

  • The economy of India is a mixed, middle-income, developing social market economy. It is the world's fifth-largest economy by nominal GDP and the third-largest by purchasing power parity. According to the International Monetary Fund, on a per capita income basis, India ranked 142nd by GDP and 125th by GDP. From independence in 1947 until 1991, successive governments promoted protectionist economic policies, with extensive state intervention and economic regulation. This is characterized as dirigisme, in the form of the License Raj. The end of the Cold War and an acute balance of payments crisis in 1991 led to the adoption of a broad economic liberalisation in India. Since the start of the 21st century, annual average GDP growth has been 6% to 7%, and from 2013 to 2018, India was the world's fastest growing major economy, surpassing China. Economy of the Indian subcontinent was the largest in the world for most of the recorded history up until the onset of colonialism in early 19th century.     India's military 

  • India has been ranked the fourth most powerful military power in the world. According to the Global Fire Power Index 2017, India's military strength is second only to that of the US, Russia, and China. Rival Neighbour Pakistan ranks 13th on the list.
  • India is positioned as the 3rd largest military spender in the world, with its defence budget accounting for 2.15% of the country’s total GDP. Over the next 5-7 years, the Government of India plans to spend $ 130 Bn for fleet modernisation across all armed services. As per Union Budget 2022-23,$ 70.6 bn was allocated to the Ministry of Defence. 

 Population of India

  • India’s growth rate has declined significantly over the past few decades, attributed to growing urbanization, rising education levels, specifically among women, and increasing alleviation of poverty.
  • While India's population growth has slowed remarkably over the last few years, it's still growing faster than China and is expected to surpass China in population by 2026, when both will have about 1.46 billion people. After 2030, India is expected to be the most populous country in the world.
  • India is expected to reach its peak population of 1.65 billion people by 2060, after which
    it will begin to decrease. The number of children in India peaked over a decade ago and is now decreasing.

Indian Technology

  • In the middle of the 20th century, former and first Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru initiated reforms to promote higher education, science, and technology in India, followed by the inauguration of the Indian Institutes of Technology in 1951. Since then, the nation’s science and technology sector has boomed, especially spatial and nuclear research which were particularly enabled by close ties with the Soviet Union at the beginning of the 1960s. Today, India has settled as a leader in several fields such as the automotive industry, telecommunication and IT.
